End of the day M, you can give him all the advice in the world, but if he gets on the beer having a crack with his mates, and / or, meets some doris, then your words will mean f*ck all.
But all the best.

Re: career,s advice for a 16 year old

The industry is changing again, the focus on hand crafting is really picking up again, even if the finished pieces are mostly created on screen we do the majority of our development work with the computer switched off - the freedom it gives for creating concepts etc is infinitely better than just opening adobe and staring at a screen all day.

From my experience, much of the industry is beginning to go back to its roots.

All these people banging on about having a trade?

The only way to earn decent money from a trade is to then go on to run your own business of plumbers / builders or carpenters

What does a plumber earn £160 - £180 a day, I'd sooner earn that sitting at a desk

to run a business you need to understand business and now what your business offers

If you are going to run a successful toilet cleaning firm you'll need to learn how to clean toilets as well as have a business mind

Fatboy, then you must work for a decent firm that still uses storyboards etc.. That's what I wanted to do years ago, ended up in the print.

If I could have my time again I'd learn a trade, something like stone masonry or roof thatching.

HR - it's the least amount of skills and responsibility for the most money. Do A levels , do CIPD exams, have a great career
